Hutch Reveal

Howdy sweet friends, I hope y’all had an enjoyable Easter. I’ve been in the diy and crafting mode. I finished the hutch! I’m do happy with how the hutch turned out and it feels like a breath of fresh air to have a neutral piece of furniture. It was such a challengety decorate with. The process took 3 days. Here are the supplies I used:

Mineral Spirits

Chalk Paint

Paint Brush

Our hutch was a lovely blue, but difficult to decorate around-not very nuetral. I knew I wanted a brighter look, so I went with Folkart’s Very Vanilla textured chalk paint. I went with textured to accomplish an old world look and I love it! I took apart the doors and glass, so the drill came in handy. I first used the citristrip on the areas I wanted the wood exposed. I then primed the areas that I wanted to paint with the Very vanilla chalk paint.

As I mentioned previously the whole process took 3 days. The process wasn’t nearly as strenuous as I thought it would be. Once the paint was removed from the wood, the mineral spirits will help to clean the left over paint. As one can see I am still workingon this part :•)

Here’s a close up of the textured chalk paint. If you prefer a smooth finish, I do not recommend the textured paint. I also finished by sealing the hutch with Valspar’s clear low-gloss acrylic.
